A natural reserve and the source of the longest Slovenian river. Zelenci is the area of the source of the Sava Dolinka River. This natural reserve is home to many interesting plant species, including the carnivorous sundew, and among the animals, amphibians and nesting birds are well represented. It includes the most famous emerald green lake, from which layers of lake chalk emerge, giving the water its characteristic blue-green color, and numerous extremely clean and cold springs. It is precisely because of the color that the lake with the swamp got its name Zelenci.
Along a special wooden bridge, you can walk without harming nature to the lake and make a full circle around the swampy surroundings of the reserve itself. Climb the observation tower as well, where you will enjoy the view.
Two small lakes and numerous other attractions. Before the start of the first turns of the road to Vršič, stop for a short breath at Jasna. It consists of two interconnected lakes at the confluence of the Velika and Mala Pišnica streams.
Swimmers and other visitors at Lake Jasna can expect piers and a 6-meter-high viewing platform. By the lake, you can also cool off with a refreshing drink or ice cream and enjoy the view of the beautiful Julian Alps in the background. On beautiful evenings, you can listen to musical performances with the wonderful natural backdrop of Razor and Prisank.
Around Jasna, you can walk along the arranged paths. To finish, treat yourself to a souvenir photo next to the proud bronze chamois.
A wonderful family view, one of the most beautiful viewpoints.
Have you admired the meadow with two smaller lakes with an attractive mountain in the background on your wall calendar, on tourist portals, and postcards and didn't know where it is? This could be the accessible Slemenova Špica with Jalovec in the background. From the top, you can look down into the Tamar Valley and admire the flying hill and other ski jumps in Planica, with all around the sharp and steep walls of the surrounding mountains.
Numerous cross-country skiing trails, the nearest just 100 m from the house. Located behind the bus station on the meadow in front of Kranjska Gora. There's nothing better than gliding through the winter landscape on cross-country skis. Kranjska Gora and its surroundings offer daily groomed cross-country skiing trails suitable for both beginners and more experienced cross-country skiers. On cross-country skis, you can enjoy yourself in the center of Rateče-Planica, and if the efforts during recreation do not bother you, you can continue from under the Planica giant towards Tamar. Spruces dressed in a winter coat will accompany you all the way to the final station, to the mountain hut in Tamar.
Cross-country trails are also groomed in the Martuljek Forest, Mojstrana, and Zgornja Radovna when there is enough natural snow.
Arranged cycling paths, also adrenaline ones. Numerous cycling paths just invite you to visit Kranjska Gora and its surroundings. The path to Mojstrana is arranged, where you can also venture into the Vrata Valley. The cycling path is also to Planica, all the way from the ski resort to the Belopeški Lakes on the Italian side of the border. Numerous macadam roads are also suitable for cycling, from Krnica, Tamar, Tromeja, to paths through the Karavanke.
Mountain biking is also arranged on the ski resort, where the chairlift will take you right under the top of Vitranc, and the descent over numerous obstacles will be a true adrenaline rush.
A world attraction, an adrenaline park. Planica (also the valley under Poncami) is a glacial valley in the northwestern part of the Julian Alps. It stretches from the village of Rateče to the mountain lodge, the Home in Tamar, from where the valley continues under the name Tamar. Planica is bordered on the west side by the Ponc mountain range (the highest peak is Visoka Ponca at 2274 meters above sea level), on the east by Ciprnik (1745 m) and Sleme (1815 m), and on the south side (in Tamar) by Mojstrovka (2366 m), Travnik (2379 m), and Jalovec (2645 m). Planica is best known for its ski jumps and the Planica giant, which has hosted numerous World Cup competitions and championships. Many world records have been set on this giant, and the first flight over 200 m.
An adrenaline park is also arranged: the zipline from the top of the large Planica flying hill is a real insight into what it looks like to be a ski jumper. You can also try the wind tunnel.
